It’s doing exactly what I expected… a cheap check on a valid phone jack… I’ve added a STANDARD rj14 Jack with clip leads… This is much less expensive that a “Test” handset.

First I tried to follow the directions for setting the date and time. When I hit [settings] it said “2003” and the directions were to press on the [up] or [down] key to change the date. When Pressed up, instead of the date going up I got the word END. I didn’t care that much about the date and time being set so I just plug it in to the line and the pressed the green (that you press when you want to make a call) and there was no dial tone. However, I left it for a while and then when I went to make a call from my cordless phone, instead of a dial tone there I got a busy signal, so the thing had gone “off hook” but just hadn’t issued a dial tone. So I unplugged it to get my phones back in working order. Its crap! So I returned it for a refund. Actually it is smaller than I thought it was.
