Top Positive Review

We only wanted a caller ID display. This device has other features, but many work only on Bell South land lines equipped with extra-cost options: call waiting and voice mail. There is no built-in answering in the device. We keep the speaker turned off, using the “on/off” button on top row just below the speaker.

The built-in green backlight is dim and won’t be enough to read the display in most places. You need to put the device in a place with ample lighting. The caller ID is only 12 characters across: not enough for full caller name. When a name is longer, the display flashes back and forth between the first and last parts of the name.

To delete the most recent call record, just under the display press the “down” button twice, then the “Delete” button twice. The next most recent call record appears, or the display will read “END” if there is none. After a few moments, time of day appears until another call comes in.

These are old units Bell offered in the 1990s and early 2000s for their particular voice mail systems. None of these features work today. I just wanted a large screen to see my incoming caller ID info. For that; these work well. They also have an interesting FLASH switch hook command for going between calls. The Flash plays music while the alternate caller is on hold. This works nice. Sadly, the speaker works fine, but their is no mic for calling speaking into it. Thus, useless as a speaker phone. It also records all incoming calls for future reference, and will do a call back. But, you have to have another phone to pickup the call back. Still, for $14.00 it makes a nice, cheap, and highly visible caller ID notification system for your desk.

Customer Questions & Answers

was hoping to cancel my (expensive) caller ID service with my phone company, will this device provide caller id on its own? thank you!
Answer: No, the signals containing the caller ID info come from the phone company. This device only displays those signals. Its still up to the phone company to send out the signals on your phone line. I think most phone companies now include the signals as part of the basic service but apparently yours does not.

Is it a talking caller box i had one years ago an it so working i want to know who callin if i am n another room
Answer: Mine is not a talking caller box. Maybe, I don’t know how to make it talk. It does have the calling telephone number on the screen.

Will this work with just batteries?
Answer: no, batteries are for back-up only
