My business is a 24 hour power generation and heavy diesel repair service. We??re the guy that service backup generator diesels and other diesel powered infrastructure. We 100% need reliable communications. Many companies are switching to VoIP which is fine but we??ve decided to keep our POTS lines. The system here is aging and Verizon is no Ma Bell. However, these phones clear up line noise and static and make the call quality comparable to VoIP. We have 8 POTS lines so two of these phones and all our line run through a PBX. Four lines are for our emergency numbers and the other four are for routine business. While the phones come with battery backup, ours are on our own battery system. We??ve lost power with these phones before and they work great. The only issue is the PBX calls won??t display the Caller ID which can be problematic. It??s more of an issue with the PBX than phone. All around these phones are good quality and reliable. I wouldn??t hesitate to buy again.

Now that I have it connected, I don’t have any issues with how the phone works and I like its features. The challenge was getting it to work with my three business lines, in particular, lines 1 and 2. A single jack on the phone MUST be used to connect both lines, so it is necessary to have a two-line wall jack with a four-wire phone cord (cord included). However, if you have two separate phone jacks for lines 1 and 2, you need work out a solution to get them to one single four-wire cord. The instructions tell you to use a phone adapter, an inexpensive device that is NOT included with the phone. In my situation, however, I have Verizon FIOS digital voice service. The network interface device has two separate jacks for lines 1 and 2. The AT&T instructions for combining these lines to a four-wire phone cord WILL NOT WORK because Verizon wires both jacks the same way with red and green wires.

Verizon’s network interface wiring is not AT&T’s issue, of course, and I was able to work around the problem by connecting both Verizon jacks to a single jack in the way the AT&T line 1/2 phone jack expects. However, if I had any idea that I would have to spend half a day resolving this challenge, I would NOT have purchased the phone. I like the phone, but I would have had to spend a lot of money getting someone to connect my phone. Fortunately, I have experience with phone wiring. Better instructions, AT&T! Include the things a customer will need and give better troubleshooting to help resolve challenges! Even better still, provide separate jacks for each line!
