Top Positive Review

I got on Amazon to purchase a home phone because it occured to me that I can tell my child to call 911 in the event of an emergency all day, but that would be useless if he can’t find my cell phone to call! I needed a slim phone that was wall mountable without all the extras. I wanted one that didn’t rely on AC power for use (in case of an emergency/power outage and also so there wouldn’t be another cord hanging). I came across this phone and figured I would give it a shot since the price point is excellent and I doubt we’ll be using it much. I read several negative reviews about it being cheap, the wall mount being upside down, the handset falling off, etc… And all I have to say is READ THE DIRECTIONS PEOPLE! There is a tiny part that you need to switch around if you are using it for table/desk setup vs. wall mount that prevents the phone from falling off the receiver. Just take 2 mins & reference the included manual and you’ll figure out what to do.
Satisfied with my purchase and very grateful that a low cost, simple house phone is still on the market.

Top Critical Review

One of these ATT&T phones in my house just failed after a few years in service. But I had ordered two back then, so I found the old one in storage and hooked it up. The unit appeared to work but I was told by everyone that the sound was extremely garbled. OK. Can’t return that one so I just ordered a new one from Amazon. Got the new one hooked up and no dial tone. I have four other similar units in the house so it was easy to make substitutions to find the culprit. Turns out it was another bad handset. The base and wires were just fine. These new 210’s are half the weight of the older ones and I suspect that the quality is not what it should be. I’ve asked for a replacement but I’m not getting my hopes up.

Customer Questions & Answers

does it work when the electricity goes off?
Answer:

Yes this works without batteries and with out external electricity source when plugged into a traditional telephone landline service. Digital Phone like xfinity or At&t U-Verse may not work in a power outage because the phone line will be powered by a cable modem/router which gets it’s power from your 120vac wall outl??

can the cord on this phone be disconnected to substitute a longer cord?
Answer:

The handset-to-base cord is a 4-wire cord, and all 4 wires are used. The base-to-outlet cord is a 6-wire cord, and only the inner two wires are used for a typical single telephone line. (If you have two lines coming into your house, two more wires will be used.) Any extension line you use must have the same number of w??

Is the phone cord permanently attached?
Answer: This is a corded handset phone; it (handset) can be unplugged and a longer cord substituted.

Does this phone work with AT&T connection only or could we use this phone with any connection?
Answer: A phone is a phone, doesn’t matter who your landline service is. Even a home VOIP service from a cable company transforms to analog in the home. The only phone system this wouldn’t work with is a digital PBX system used in businesses. Those use specific IP phones.

How long is the coiled handset cord. I’m returning a phone now because the cord was just too short.
Answer: The cord is only 7 ft. You can order a 25ft cord RCA 25 feet Handset Coil Cord, White (TP282W) for $ 5.40 on Amazon to make it longer. I hope this response helped. Have a great day.
